[Release Blitz * Review] OWN IT by M. Dauphin @AuthorMDauphin

Own It
M. Dauphin
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: March 31. 2017

Cover design: Inked Imprints

You know what sucks? Cancer. Cancer sucks.
Especially when it takes a young life. Like the life of my five year old son. You want to know what I have to say about that? Nothing. Absolutely nothing because I don’t have the drive anymore. There’s nothing left in me except emptiness. That much is obvious. I’ve lost my car, my career, and my apartment. At least I have my brother. Actually, I just have a place to stay because of my rich, single brother.
I’m struggling to find purpose again. After what life’s shown me it can do to a person, I really don’t care if I’m breathing anymore.
I am, but barely.
Then Jett Voss showed up and it’s like he’s an oxygen mask I don’t need or want.
She’s got no cares left in the world and I’m determined to resuscitate her heart.
It was a one-night stand that connected us. She only had one want that night, and I took care of it. I’m not stopping there though. I may have not known her before her heartbreak, but I know there’s life inside of her still.
I will find it.
That means I need to stick around town for a while. I guess I don’t have many other options. I’ve just been forced to run a company I never wanted and I’m a little bitter about it. The circumstances of why this fell into my lap makes it the hardest. Death is a cruel reality. My bike shop, occasionally the open road, not answering to anyone... this is the life I was living and wanted.
It’s insane what one look, one night, one person can change in you.

5 of 5 stars

This is an emotional read. No way around that but it's also a beautiful story. The author knows how to write a story that grips your heart and characters that will stay with you. Lo has been dealt a hard hand in life and she has let it get to her, I would be the same way, but will she be able to let herself open up when she meets Jett? Jett is the bad boy of his family but once he meets Lo he has a mission to make her alive again. These characters were written so beautifully and you can't help but feel the emotions that drop off the pages. Get some tissues ready and enjoy this emotional but also story of hope. Sometimes we get what we never knew we needed when we least expect it.

We meet Lauren or Lo as she likes to be known at the lowest point in her life and when you find out why you won't blame her at all. Her emotions are raw and displayed to devastating effect by the author, she's hurting and is literally doing the bare minimum to get through each day.
She's living with her brother and when she attends a funeral with him she meets Jett, it was fate they met that day because they are just what each other needed. Jett is the rebel of his family when he see's Lo he's hooked, he loves her wild unapologetic nature and the chemistry between them is red hot.
This is a very emotional story, it's a story of hope and strength of never giving in and finding that one person who sees beneath your outer shell to the heart of you. Lo and Jett are an amazing couple and their story will stay with me.

Do you like all things taboo?
Does something get you going simply because it's completely wrong? Well let me tell you these two stories which interact are truly hot and steamy, plus don't forget they are completely taboo. This book duo isn't for the faint of heart but it definitely get your heart going. You get the daddy's best friend and then the hot sheriff who happens to be the best friends daddy. All I can say is these stories were hot and definitely upped my love for erotica. Of course it would be a k webster book without some twists and turns. I could go on and on but the moral of this review is they are hot and truly taboo, Go read it!!

Review by AnessaRenee

This story blew me away. I didn't read the first book and I didn't feel like I was missing anything at all. So I'd definitely say this is a standalone. I do want to go back and read the first book because this author is amazing. This story wasn't your simple teacher/student romance. There was so much substance and so many emotions. This story was so much wrapped up into one story. Can their strong feelings for each other last through all the outside world? You must read this book. And I can't wait to read the first one and the next one. This author has captured my heart.

Review by Becky Rendon

4.5 stars

I have to say that I feel deprived and it's my own fault. I was intrigued by book one. I added it to my TBR (also known as the Bermuda Triangle of books) and promptly forgot. (In my defense my TBR has over 5,000 books on it.) Along comes Breaking Gravity...I'm not sure if the titles or the covers gave off a PNR vibe ( I love PNR however, this book is not PNR) and I wasn't in the mood or what but I'm so glad I didn't let it go to my TBR.

This story is a second chance and a naughty professor all in one. I'm sure plenty of people will be intrigued by the scandal. It's hot, no denying that but the beauty of this story is in the bond. These two people have been beaten down by life, fate, whatever. They have been demoralized and left in the shells they inhabit. Neither one believes in hope. Neither one expects more out of life. They simply exist.

Depressing and melancholy as it is, they both are resigned to that life. Until they meet...

It's a beautiful story. You don't have to have read Fall Back Skyward to fall for these two. But I would be jealous of you if you did. There is a certain bond that you acquire having met the family before starting this book and the dynamics would be spelled out more. However, I suffered no loses by not reading it first (Think of it as extra credit and a jump start). I will be making up for lost time though!

I can't wait to see what's in store for Elise in the next one. I have a feeling it will be wonderful.

Review by Anne Milne

What can I say about this book that will do it justice I really don't think I'll be to.
Yes this is a student teacher story but it is so much more, it is simply stunning. At times my heart felt like it couldn't take any more, the emotions the feelings the passion and the pain this story had it all.
The chemistry between the two is palpable from the moment they met you can feel the connection. Both of them have known pain and loss and each see something in the other that calls out to them. Can this forbidden romance flourish or will it flounder under outside pressures?
A simply stunning powerful story of loss, love and second chances.

What readers are saying about STRIPPED BARE:

Stripped Bare is one of those stories that you know is going to be great from the first page. It's funny, extremely sexy, emotional and heartbreaking which all combine for a sensational second-chance romance read.

This is a modern-day Pretty Woman but so much better! Richard Gere has nothing on Finn McCormick!!

Oh wow. I have been in love with McLaughlin's writing since the start but this one could very much be my favorite book now by her.

Sisterhood Review
by Becky Grover

This was such a refreshing read! I loved this story. It was full of feels and insecurities, denial and stubbornness. I really like the connection between Macey and Finn and how their relationship grows, stumbles and evolves. I found myself literally holding my breath at times waiting for different characters' reactions!

I will say, and only because others mention it, that there are some similarities to the movie Pretty Woman, but only a few things really, and the main storyline is truly it's own. I think Macey's reaction to most everything is very natural and expected. Finn is a nice guy, but he is also a clueless asshole... the kind many of us love to watch break down his emotional walls. It's one of my favorite scenarios with male characters and I loved reading it! I will be recommending this book to my Sisterhood reviewers and friends!

They don’t call it the Strip for nothing. . . .

In this sinfully sexy Las Vegas romance from bestselling author Heidi McLaughlin, a man who has it all reunites with a woman who takes it all off.

Living in Sin City, Finn McCormick is no stranger to one-night stands, but the last person he expects to find losing big on the casino floor is a former high school fling. Even though Macey Webster’s clearly down on her luck, she’s still a knockout, and she’s dressed like a stripper—because she is one. Drunk off an unfamiliar cocktail of lust, pity,

and compassion, Finn offers to pay Macey’s debts if she cuddles up to him around town . . . and does whatever he wants between the sheets.

Macey came to Vegas for one reason only: money. She’s got a young daughter to support, and the tips really are bigger in Vegas. But when she blows her earnings on blackjack, her guardian angel is the rich boy who once stole her heart and never called her back. Although Macey would love to turn the tables on Finn, she can’t afford to refuse his proposition—and soon she’s enjoying herself much more than she cares to admit. Macey’s used to baring her flesh, but baring her soul will take far more courage.

Chapter 1

The stench of deep fry emanates from my clothes. I hate the smell and I know the other girls can smell it, but I ignore the looks they’re giving me and hustle through the dressing room to my locker. The older women and the ones that have been stripping here longer always look down on the younger girls and the newbies. I’m somewhere in the middle. I stripped here when I was younger, during my first trimester with my daughter, and then again after she was born when I had my figure back. Actually, stripping helped me tone as a result of all the pole work that I had to do. I took some time off after that, but I always come back because the money is fast and somewhat decent. Each time I leave, though, I say that it’s for good and that was the last time and yet a few months later, I always find myself back again, knocking on Lew’s door, and asking for my spot in the rotation back. Girls come and go around here and in this business you can’t expect to make a lasting connection with anyone.

I strip down and throw my dress, apron and nylons into my bag as quickly as possible before the stench of grease becomes any more noticeable. I change into a thong and bootie shorts, add tassels to my nipples and cover them with a bra before slipping a tank top over my head and stepping into an old pair of cowboy boots that I picked up at the secondhand store. I have an array of costumes meant to hit the mark on every fantasy a man can have. Cowboys, librarian, naughty schoolgirl . . . you name it I’m doing it. I need the money. More so now than ever. My kid is getting older and she’s seeing things she shouldn’t, like her grandmother being so drunk that she can’t get up to answer the door, or strange men in the house. She’s ten and shouldn’t have to babysit an adult. Nor should she have to live in the slums, but that’s on me.

Seventeen and pregnant isn’t how I saw my life. I had had enough of living with barely any food, no new clothes and the strange looks, so I swore that I was getting out. I was smart, got good grades in high school, but none of that mattered once I found out I was knocked up and the baby daddy had already left town. I tried to tell his mother, but she took one look at me and shut the door. Back then I didn’t, but I do now. I’d take that money and run right across the tracks, under the bridge and through the fucking blueberry bushes if it meant my kid wasn’t going to be a victim of a drug deal gone wrong or end up with a drinking problem by the time she’s a teen.

Morgan though, she’s a good kid who loves to read and is a whiz at math. She’s all I have in this world and I’ll do anything I have to, to make sure she has food and clothes.

So I strip at night and wait tables during the day. Depending on the day or night, one pays better than the other, but they’re jobs that I need. I have a goal. I want to move Morgan and I into a better neighborhood. One where kids want to play and not sell drugs. I want her to live in a place where she feels safe and doesn’t need to hide in the closet of our bedroom because my mother invited one of her friends over.

My dreams for Morgan are unreachable, I know this, but I try every day to make them happen. I want such a different life for her that sometimes when I look out the window of the city bus I’m on and I see other kids her age walking along the street without a care in the world, I imagine her being one of those kids. If only . . .
