I didn’t set out to be a pirate.
Life for me was about surviving the ugliness that people knew existed but didn’t talk about.
I lived in hell.
Then I saw her.
I knew I couldn’t keep her, but for just a little while I had found heaven.
Eight years later, I can’t get her out of my head. It is a mistake sailing to her island.
It is a mistake reaching out to her.
She doesn’t recognize me.
Or maybe she does.
Closure, it is all I’m after.
Then my past comes back to haunt me.
She’s thrust into my ruthless world.
An angel.
A romantic who has a journal that leads to a shipwreck and a lost treasure.
She wants to find the ending to a love story that is over two hundred years in the making.
I want to help her find it.I didn’t set out to be a pirate.
I didn’t set out to fall in love with an angel.
I did both anyway.
As soon as I read the blurb for this book I had to read it because it was unique and it intrigued me and I'm a huge fan of this author. For me the first part really dragged I was desperate for something anything to happen. I understand the author was setting the backstory of the main characters but this part of Willow's story was a little repetitive. Stick with it because when the action picks up I couldn't put it down. I mean a sexy alpha man who's also a pirate I was in heaven. This story takes you on an adventure to far away lands, under and in the ocean. Parts of the story are truly heartbreaking I will admit to shedding tears. It was the perfect mix of emotion, intrigue, danger and did I mention the sexy pirate.

Elusive has absolutely everything you need in a book. I'm not even sure it can be classified. It has angst, drama, the plucky comedic best friend, a love story...what a love story. Let's not forget the kick ass historical mystery. Oh did I forget to mention the pirates! Freaking Pirates!
No none have peg legs but some don't have all their teeth...I might have been disappointed about the lack of "aye matey" or "land ho". Ok, I really wasn't at all.
I had a fantastic time reading this book. I will say that it seems slow in the beginning but please don't give up. Elusive is an adventure far more entertaining than a "choose your own adventure" from my youth.
Now to mention the tears...You know that I might be a bit emotional...I cried. Not going to sugar coat it. The wide array of emotions that their stories force you to confront is going to make it more real. BTW, the meaning and quote behind the title...sliced me to the bone.
So from one pirate enthusiast to another...("argh" not required) batten down the hatches...grab a glass...and dive in.

This book was AMAZING!! There is so much suspense, and angst that I was constantly drawn into the story. The characters would drive you insane in both good and bad ways. I loved every character created by this story. Did I say pirates yet? OMG yes! ...there are freaking pirates!! I am not convinced that no story is complete without pirates. Pirates and treasure hunters. I feel like I keep throwing out one awesome thing after another when I try to explain all the things that make this book so great! It has it all: love, lust, hate, angst, suspense l, and PIRATES!! You guys have no idea about my fascination with pirates, and this book just made me love them more. There is also a historical factor that calls to my inner explorer but, Hot pirates that plunder your heart and give multiple explosive orgasms...um...where do I sign up?! Anyway, everyone should buy this book. I loved it, it's well written, and the story is fantastic. You will be drawn in from the every beginning to the very end.

L.A. Fiore is the author of several books including Beautifully Damaged, Collecting the Pieces and His Light in the Dark. Her favorite movie is Star Wars, a love her son shares. They hope to build their own Millennium Falcon one day. She would like to meet the Winchester Boys to thank them for enlightening her on the versatility of salt as not just a food enhancer, but as protection from supernatural threats. And she thinks it would be interesting to be a zombie, to get an idea of what life is like as a brain-addicted fiend so she can be their voice to tell their side of the story. She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and kids, their two spoiled cats and their awesome dog.
