Title: Someone Like You

Author: Alexandra Silva

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Someone Like You:

Dorian Anson is my friend. She's the only person who's ever questioned my smiles. My jokes. The one liners that have our friends shaking their heads at me. I've lived my life on those smiles. They never failed me, until her. I wasn't counting on her when I designed my front. I never imagined the possibility of someone like her coming into my life. The wild hair, the kind smile and those eyes that see everything. She was the girl with the beautiful soul, pretty face and whole heart. But hearts aren't made to stay whole. I watched hers break. I watched her tears fall. I watched as her world tilted on its axis and shattered at her feet. This girl. She sees me, all parts of me—the truths I try to hide, the secrets I bury. What's mine and what's not. She sees it all, and I can only hope the truth isn't too much. That she won't walk away. That she won't leave me...alone. We both have a past. We have ghosts. We have fears. I'm hoping that somehow in the end, we'll have each other too. I've never needed anyone before her, and I know I'll never want anyone else after her. There is no one like her. My pretty girl. Dorian.

QUINCY

They say bad things happen in threes.

I made a mistake. I kissed the right boy, but married the wrong man.
They were friends. Best friends. Until my life fell apart.
Everything changed.
Something was stolen and then something was given in its place.
I had so much in my grasp, maybe it was too much because everything started slipping.
My son.
My husband.
My sanity.
Only one thing remained the same.
My first crush.
My first kiss.
My first love.

JAMIE

They say you can’t miss what you’ve never had.

But I swear I had her. At least for one kiss.
I left the right girl and tried to replace her with the wrong woman.
It didn’t work because I still missed her.
I promised my best friend I’d always look after his little sister. And our other best friend promised to never break her heart.
He lied.
I didn’t.

We have circled each other all our lives but our time never came.
We’ve never had our moment until now.

Exclusive Excerpt:

Over the years our girls’ nights had become more of a child-friendly affair. Gone were the cocktails and in was the tea. Willow and one of our friends, Beth, had stumbled on this gem of a tearoom a while back and we’d made it a point to hold our monthly catch-up sessions here. It was a small little teashop in a quiet little residential backstreet close to Willow’s flat in Kensington. Molly and Pippa enjoyed the vintage dress up box and us older girls liked the natter. Quincy, Willow and I were childhood friends. Quincy was probably the strongest person I knew. We’d lost Phillip, her brother, and on top of that she’d suffered a stillbirth and divorced her cheating, scumbag of a husband after finding out she was pregnant with Pippa. I thought that I’d die when I’d found out that Phillip was gone, I couldn’t remember anything but the sheer pain. There were times that it still hurt as much now as it did then. Especially when Phillip’s absence, his death, impacted our son. Losing the man you thought you’d love for the rest of your life was a bitch, but merely thinking of the possibility of losing Daniel, that was enough to truly kill me. My sweet boy. “Oh god, this has got to be the best brownie I’ve ever had.” Quincy moaned as she shoved the rest of the small square in her mouth. “If we come here more often, I’ll have to join a gym.” “I think it might be worth it though.” I giggled, as I watched Molly and Pippa wrap white feather boas around Beth’s and Willow’s shoulders. “What’re you giggling about over there?” Willow looked between me and Quincy, her eyes narrowed at us like she suspected we were keeping something from her. “Nothing.” “The cake.” “You say nothing,” she gestured toward me and then over at Quincy, “she says cake. Which is it?” “Cake.” Quincy and I both sighed. It was good cake, almost better than sex, or what I remembered of it. “I can think of something better than cake…” Beth snickered, waggling her brows at Willow. Her Welsh twang was something that made me smile to this day, I swear she could make the Hail Mary sound dirty. Molly looked between us, her face pinched in confusion as she said, “Uncle Jake says there’s nothing better than cake and ice cream.” “Speaking of,” Beth stood from her makeover chair and sat back at the table with us, “how did the football thing go?” “Good.” “Just good?” Quincy asked as she examined one of the mini scones glistening with jam and clotted cream atop. “Yes.” “Why’re you being so evasive about it?” Willow gave me one of her curious looks. “I’m not, the match went well, they won. It was nice of him.” I glanced over at Pippa and Molly who were going through the dress up box again. “Yeah, it was really nice of him.” Beth sang a little too teasingly. “Stop it.” “Come on, Dorian, you have to admit he’s a little bit nice himself.” “Beth.” I warned as she shrugged like I was the one being silly. I didn’t want to talk about him with them. I didn’t want to think about him any more than I already did, especially about how pleasant he was to look at or spend time with. “She’s got a point, Dory, he’s actually…you know…” Quincy smiled, her cheeks blushing like she was saying something inappropriate. “Yeah, he’s hot until he opens his mouth and then you want to slap him or snap his tongue off.” Willow rolled her eyes as she poured herself another cup of tea. I internally chuckled at her indignation, she and Jake were very alike in the way they interacted with people. They didn’t let many people in, but when they did, they were loyal to a fault. Not to mention that they were both great at pressing people’s buttons. “I love Uncle Jake, he’s my goddaddy like you, Dory.” Molly chimed as she and Pippa sat at the table with us. “I’m your godmother, sweetie.” I couldn’t help but tap her little button nose with the tip of my finger, something she always pulled a sort of sour face about, but never complained. God, I’m that aunt that pinches cheeks and coos like a bloody overbearing fool. The thought alone made me cringe as I then started to imagine myself as the cat lady on the second floor of my building. Nice to everyone, but essentially invisible and alone. As unlikely as that would be with this lot around, it still struck a dissonant chord and it made me uneasy. When did I become this person? I asked myself, the answer immediately flashing in my mind as a pair of distant, beautiful brown eyes and a soft cheeky smile. Phillip. “I still struggle with that decision.” Willow groaned. “He’s great with the kids,” I sighed, trying to ignore the pang my thoughts had brought with them. “Because he’s a child himself.” “You know he’s not that bad.” I’d known Jake for over a decade. We’d spent a lot of time with one another. I’d learned that there was a lot more to him than what most people saw, and a part of me didn’t know what to make of that. I didn’t understand why he’d allowed me to see him in all those lights, but it made me happy, even if that happiness brought a sting of guilt with it. “But, he is hot, and he likes spending time with you.” Beth smiled. “Anyone would think he might like you…like you. Plus, you need to get back into the tango of things.” “I can barely balance Daniel and work, and thinking about people like that…well, I don’t know, it seems wrong. Oh, and I have a child.” Thinking about Jake like that didn’t feel wrong, what felt wrong was thinking about him in one breath and in the next thinking about Phillip. Sometimes I wondered if I would still think of Jake like that if Phillip were still here. If we’d even be friends like we are. The worst part of it was the panicked feeling at the possibility that we might not be the way we are if Phillip hadn’t died. It was a panic laced with guilt and self-loathing because what if I still felt all the same things toward Jake even if Phillip was here? It doesn’t mean you’d still be together. The thought made me cringe. I couldn’t imagine not being with him, not when we had Daniel. “I have Daniel.”

#NewRelease #Review CATASTROPHE QUEEN by Emma Hart @jennw23 @EmmaHartAuthor

One hot mess. One hot boss. One too many hot encounters...

Catastrophe Queen, an all-new hilarious office romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Emma Hart is available now!

It’s not you. It’s me.

No, seriously. It is me. Not only does my name literally mean “unfortunate,” but that’s the story of my life.

Everything I touch turns to cr*p. An apartment fire—that I swear I was not responsible for—means I’m living back at home with my s*x-mad parents. Yay, me!

Which is why I need my new job as personal assistant to Cameron Reid to get back on my feet. Three months in this job and I can move back out and, hopefully, remember to turn off my flat iron once in a while.

Ahem.

On paper, my job is easy. Make coffee. Book appointments. Keep everything in order.

Until I walk in on my boss, half-naked, wearing nothing but the kind of tiny white towel that dreams are made of.

Now, nothing is easy—except our mutual attraction. But he’s my boss, and you know what they say about mixing work and pleasure: unless you do p*rn, it’s just not worth it.

Or is it?

I swear I have never met Emma Hart. I have no idea how she knows me but she wrote a book about me. Okay, so my name isn't Mallory but it may as well be. As a certified klutz and well know ER visitor, I give this story my stamp of approval. I'm actually impressed that there weren't more encounters with medical professionals. Obviously Mallory is just a junior hurricane.

This adorable story will have you smirking and even giggling a time or two. Aunt Grace is one to watch. By watch, I mean watch out for! This family is trouble. So hide your liquor and enjoy the disaster.

It takes a fearless woman to love the most scandalous man alive in New York Times Bestselling Author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s breathtaking novel

What an amazing book! This by far was the most anticipated book for me in this series and it held up to all my dreamy expectations. Every book in this series has been just perfectly fitting for each brother, but I am kinda partial to the gorgeous a-holes with a fortress of walls around them... because you know for a fact that you’ll enjoy every minute of watching that facade crumble. This was definitely the case for Devlin as Rosie worms her way under his skin and into his life. The push and pull from the two of them is so magnetic and exciting. You never know what will come out of each other’s mouths or how they’ll react to one another. This hate-to-love type of angst and electricity is addictive and I couldn’t put this book down!
I highly recommend this series!

How does one describe the de Vincent's without sounding like a giggling school girl!?! Lucian with his charming self and beguiling eyes. Gabe and his broken-hearted existence making you want to hold him. But Devlin, Devlin has secretly been my hidden delight, a hidden bar of chocolate that you often look at but decide it isn't the right time for. (No judging the hidden chocolate!)

Devlin is a complicated dark chocolate with Mango woven in. He's decadent. He's forbidden. He's everything you desire but tell yourself you would never need. He's too much yet a tiny sampling will never be enough.

Devlin de Vincent is the whole package and more. The only problem is that his outer wrapping is surrounded by Gorilla tape. It's almost impenetrable. Almost. His tightly woven world is slipping with all these secrets, doubts, and conspiracies.

Secrets, secrets everywhere. The de Vincent's secrets are the stuff every reporter dreams of finding. They are the stuff nightmares are made of. They are going to be ripped open for every reader to see. Your thoughts, fears, and answers are just pages away. But ever after...that you will need to see!

I love the complexities of this family. I love the paranormal vibe, but with the doubters' edge. It makes it seem more real. It gives an edge to the story while satisfying both believer and nonbelievers. I love that though this takes place in South you feel like you are right there. (It's currently -17 F where I live with the 30 mph winds so the South sounds perfect right now!)

As always, the author has given us a family to want to call our own, a group to call friends, and a need to belong. So whether you like the charmer, the broody artist or the seemingly unfeeling mysterious older brother...the de Vincent's will capture your heart before you even realize it was available.

Her fake husband is a Work In Progress…

Work in Progress, an all-new romantic comedy from Staci Hart, is available now!

wip-cover-sm.jpg

I never thought my first kiss would be on my wedding day.
But here I stand, clutching a bouquet of pale pink roses behind the doors of a Las Vegas chapel, and at the end of the aisle is the absolute last man I imagined would be waiting for me.
Thomas Bane.
Bestselling author. Notorious bad boy. Savagely handsome, dark as sin, chiseled as stone. And somehow, my soon-to-be husband.
Marry him, and I’ll land my dream job. Save him, and I’ll walk away with everything I’ve ever wanted. All I have to do is remember it’s all for show. None of it is real, no matter how real it feels.
But first, I have to survive the kiss.
And with lips like his, my heart doesn’t stand a chance.

Work of Gold, that's the real title because this book isn't progress, it's gold! Staci Hart brought the feels, the doubts, and the innocence. Once she had you hooked, she beat you over the head with a club. (Fine it was words and a carefully crafted plot twist, but it felt like a motherfluffing club.)

Work in Progress is a blogger's secret fairytale fantasy. One I'm sure most don't realize they have this particular fantasy until they read the blurb. Let me tell you though, once I feasted my greedy eyes on the storyline, there was no holding me back. It's a modern fairytale, wishful thinking, and a happy dream all in one. It's sexy, sweet, and 100% realist without jeopardizing a happy or changing the integrity of the story. So it's a work of Gold!

Join the Red Lipstick Coalition. Raise your red. Be brave. Be you. Be everything you want to be... a Work in Progress.

This was a difficult review to write I've gone back and forth several times trying to put my thoughts down. The synopsis appealed to me, sexy bad boy author meets shy blogger and a fake marriage thrown in, too.

I liked the story, however, it took me a while to get into it. In fact, for a large portion of the book, I felt disconnected to the characters and the story. I actually took a break from the book then started from the beginning again but I felt the same. I want to make clear it's not the writing because there is nothing wrong with it. There is no problem with the plot and the story timeline flows...

I came to the realisation it was me and that's ok. Not all readers will feel the same about every book and sometimes we click with characters and sometimes we don't. Don't let my feelings put you off just because it wasn't a "WOW book" for me -- doesn't mean it won't be a book you'll love.

Excerpt:

The hall bathroom door opened, consequently stopping the earth’s orbit and flinging me into space for lack of gravity. Thomas Bane stepped out of the doorway in slow motion, propelled by a cloud of steam that licked at his glistening body like it wanted to taste him. His hair was black, wet, curling and dripping in rivulets down the planes and valleys of his expansive chest and abs and narrow hips. He had that thing, the trough of muscle bracketing his hips that caught sluicing water and carried it in an angle that would eventually reach that unknown terrain beneath his towel. I saw the ghost of that terrain, the long, cylindrical bulge that was substantial enough to clearly state its presence, even through the thick towel. He smirked, dragging his hand through his wet hair. I salivated, watching droplets of water roll down his forearm and collect on the tip of his erotic elbow. “You’re up,” he said. I blinked, not knowing when I’d set my coffee down or how many minutes—hours? years?—had passed in the time I spent ogling his body. He sauntered into the room like he wasn’t basically naked. I tried unsuccessfully not to stare at his knees, the place where his ropy thigh connected, the angular muscles of his calves, the curve of his ankle, the broad pad of his foot. He was perfectly proportioned. Michelangelo would have carved him twenty feet tall, and women would have worshipped at his perfect feet. Gus bounced when he saw Tommy, his toys forgotten. And when Gus took off running, Tommy stopped, eyes widening and hands splayed in front of him. “Gus, no,” he commanded. To no one’s surprise, Gus did not listen. He barked once, snagged the hem of Tommy’s towel, and whipped it off him in a single tug that exposed every inch of skin on Thomas Bane’s ridiculous body. Thank God my coffee was already on the counter. I’d have gotten third-degree burns. For a split second, Tommy was frozen there in all his natural glory, poised to run after his dog, his face drawn and eyes locked on the sweet, disobedient dog. He wasn’t paying any attention to me. I, however, gave him my full and undivided consideration. His thighs were a mass of muscle so hard and defined, the tops were planes that came to a notch at his knee and a point where it met his hip. My eyes caught that trough that had before disappeared and followed it where it pointed—straight to the thatch of dark hair and the member nestled there. The very thick, very long, mostly limp member. If I stared at it a second longer, I was going to faint—my vision was already dim, my pulse pumping so hard, I could feel it in my neck, at the back of which a cold sweat had broken. But he shifted to run after Gus, who was galloping away, trailing the towel behind him. “Dammit, Gus! Gimme that!” Then it was the back of him I saw, his hair, the streaming water rolling down all the curves of his shoulders, his back, the valley of his spine, and down to the most perfect ass I’d ever seen in real life. Well, the only ass I’d ever seen in real life that wasn’t my own, and even that I couldn’t get a good look at without a mirror. Seriously, that ass. That perfectly sculpted ass, round and tight and curved in the sides, shifting from one side to the other as he ran after the damn dog. My gaze caught a tattoo on one ass cheek, and I squinted at it, trying to make it out. Tommy bent to snag the end of the towel—I caught sight of his sack and almost dissolved through the floor in an acidic puddle of embarrassment—but when he pulled, Gus spun around, ass in the air and tail wagging as he growled, pulling back. A string of obscenities left Tommy’s mouth, but I was still gaping and staring at his ass. I realized that I was laughing. It sounded like someone else in a different room. I wondered absently if this was how it felt to have a stroke.

ADD TO GOODREADS

I adored this book it's such a beautiful gentle love story that made me feel so happy.

Lucas is such a wonderful character to read. He's a devoted single dad to the sweetest little girl you really her the sense that they are a team. He's not looking for love but the instant attraction he feels for Courtney is palpable. He's alpha protective loving added to a sensitive thoughtful soul and he's irresistible. Sometimes I have a hard time liking female characters who been cheated on but I loved Courtney. Her self worth won't let her settle for second best and she forges a new life for herself. I loved reading about not just their budding relationship but also the forming of a family unit.

This was an enjoyable at times tender read.
