SYNOPSIS:

Have you ever loved a woman with your heart and soul, just to watch her slip away?

I had her.

I broke her.

I left a piece of me behind.

My best friend put her back together.

Cherished her.

Loved her the way she deserved.

My time for absolution has come.

And I'll stop at nothing until I get it.

Now I'll have to fight my way back to what I left behind.

If you are hankering for new sexy tatted up book boyfriend look no further. Corey from Joz Maxel's My Absolution is just the man for you. I'm not quite sure how to categorize Corey for you. He is a hot AF tattoo artist with alpha male tendencies with a touch of MC. It has a friends to lovers touch as well. Corey's love for Nova is fierce. I can only imagine a love like that.

I love the storyline. The blurb is what sold me. Although it was a fairly quick read, the end seemed a little rushed. Other than that I can't really complain. I love the triangle perspective. I like seeing the internal struggles that the characters have. Oh and who doesn't love hot sex!

This Four Star review is for The Sweet Spot Sisterhood Blog. Enjoy!

Before going in I thought I was going to read a messy cheating book but it's not that at all.
I enjoyed the story it has some drama but it's definitely not the angst fest I was expecting. All the characters in the book have strong personalities, I liked them all even Dane but Nova, Corey and the children shine through.
For me the story was confused it was like it didn't know which way to go. Her dads in a motorcycle club but it's only mentioned in a vague sense, I can't believe an MC wouldn't do anything in payback to Dane. I also needed more about Nova and Corey's life after the prologue, it would have helped round the story out instead I felt like I was playing catch up with their story. Ultimately the book was about accepting your failures and mistakes, accepting and giving forgiveness.
As a debut book it was good and I think this is an author to watch out for in the future.

I assumed from the blurb that this was going to be a love triangle. You know what they say when you assume...

My Absolution, though not what I expected, was a sweet read. I expected angst, drama driven love triangle. It's not. There is some drama. But it a story about absolution and the road to achieve it.

It will leave with a sigh, a smile, and sad eyes but the love in these pages will make your eyes light up and your heart happy.

EXCERPT:

"Hey, you. This seat taken?" She takes the seat next to me on the bench. I just stare into the fire, not saying anything. "Thought you could use some Jim Bean by now." She holds out the tumbler of amber liquid in front of my face. Without thought I grab the glass, drink its entire contents and hand the glass back to her. "Looks like I was right." She offers me a subtle curve of her lips that I catch out of the corner of my eye. I'm too numb to care about how anything about her affects me.

"What are you doing out here Nova? Don't you have a husband to fuck or something?" Jesus, I'm an asshole.

"I know this is hard for you, Corey. But taking it out on me isn't gonna make things better!" She stands up to leave when I grab her arm. Her features are highlighted from the fire and all I can think of is how god damn beautiful she is, and I can't fucking have her.

"Please don't go," I plead as I stand up too fast and almost lose my balance. "I'm sorry."

Nova places her hand on the side of my face and caresses my unshaven cheek. I close my eyes to savour this moment. "What's going on in that head of yours, Corey?"

I open my eyes and stare into her watery ones. "Nova, you need to stop." I place my hand over hers, still resting on my cheek. "My head isn't in a good place right now."

She moves herself to stand toe to toe in front of me. "Maybe I don't want to." She looks from my eyes to my mouth, biting down on her bottom lip. "Corey..." was all she got out before I took her face in both my hands and brought my lips to hers.

It was a sweet touch between two people that knew every scar, every smile, every dream of each other but it quickly turned to something more...something we weren't prepared for. Nova moved her hand from my cheek to just over my heart and I was done. I pulled her closer to me and kissed her with all that I had. If this was the only moment I had with her like this then it would be one that we both would never forget.

But it ended as fast as it started when Nova pushed me away, touching her lips with her fingers. Before anything could be said I could hear Dane coming around the building, calling out her name.
