Review: This is War, Baby

This is War, Baby This is War, Baby by K. Webster
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

**I happily received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

Holy Crap! I absolutely LOVED this book! I have read several dark, dark romances with a similar theme that were good, but this takes the freaking cake! I will do my best to tell how I felt about the book without spoilers!
The book starts off with a bang and gets right down to the nitty-gritty. K Webster doesn't mess around. The plot is terrifying and depraved. The worst nightmarish scenario you could imagine. The heroine, Baylee, endures so much physically and emotionally and becomes so confused as her defenses are broken down by her captor. Her fear is palpable. One particular incident was so violent it actually shook me up! That never happens! But I loved that it did!
Now, I have friends that want to know NOTHING of the plot before reading this book. Zilch. It makes the journey for them so much better. So I'm going to be very plot-vague for them.
When Baylee comes to be with War, she does not know what to expect. She only wants to be safe, something that she has seen is not guaranteed. She knows what horrifying fates many of the other girls will be facing. What she comes to realize is that she is not the one who needs saving.

"I was tainted.
With her blood.
With their blood.
And the disease of my despair.
There was no cleansing something so tainted.
This was who I was now.
This was War."
