*Sisterhood Review Bundle* RETRIEVAL by Aly Martinez @AlyMartinezAuth

RETRIEVAL
by Aly Martinez

Blurb

One story. Two couples.

I proposed on our first date.
She laughed and told me I was insane. Less than a day later, she said yes.
It was a whirlwind, but we were happy…
Until we got greedy and wanted a family.

It was a life I couldn’t give her, not for lack of trying. Fertility just wasn’t on our side. We sought out doctors and treatments. Spent money we didn’t have. Lied to our families. Smiled for our friends. Put on a brave face for a world that didn’t understand.
Finally, we were successful…
Until we were forced to bury our son.

We were left broken, battered, and destroyed.
They say love is in the details, but it was the details that ruined us.

This is the story of how I took back what had always been mine.
The retrieval of my wife and our family.

HOLY WOW! I could not put this book down. It was jam-packed full of feels and so much anticipation over what would happen next... and from several different angles! This was my first time reading from this author and it only served to make me hungry for more! Jot me down as an auto-read for this gal!

This was a fabulous story of a couple torn apart by grief and unsuccessfully trying to move on. Unexpected circumstances bring them back together during an investigation that involves both of them. They are forced to revisit their painful past. Will it bring the together or create havoc and thrust them further apart? The added storyline brought on by this investigation is brutal, scary, and will have you on the edge of your seat, unable to put your book/kindle down. I just had to know what would happen to all of the characters involved!

I wish I could say more, but the important message here is that this is a book that should not be missed! DO NOT skip to the end of the book and peek! If you are one of those crazy people, do yourself a favor and fight that temptation for this book... but be ready to jump into book two!

Part 1 of a duet and I need book 2 ASAP, it's so good! Characters that you can really relate to, their problems are ones that literally thousands of couples will have gone through. When Roman and Elisabeth meet, it's like the stars aligned just for them. They are perfect for each other. They live a charmed life, but then tragedy happens and their perfect life falls apart. When they meet again the chemistry and love are still there, but with such a painful past, can they reconnect? Roman is pure alpha, he knows what he wants, and damn does he go for it. Elisabeth is a woman I could see myself hanging out with, she's just so real. The story that is weaved throughout the book is complex, it's cleverly written so the 'joins' are seamless, and kept me on the edge of my seat. Loved every word of this book can't wait for book 2.

This review is for the Sweet Spot Sisterhood Blog. Read with caution, may contain spoilers.

I absolutely loved Retrieval (part 1 of the duet) by Aly Martinez. I could not read this book fast enough. There were so many mixed emotions. I cannot imagine the heartache of losing a child, especially after so many attempts. The strain it put on Roman and Elisabeth's marriage was devastating. It tore them apart on so many levels and they divorced.

Finally, two years later after moving on, fate threw them a curve ball. The fertility clinic [they used] was under investigation. Will opening this old wound bring them back together?

This book definitely gave me all the feels. You will not be disappointed. Retrieval is a must read. Aly Martinez nailed it and cannot wait to read Transfer (part 2 of the duet).

Let me start off by saying Wow! This book was captivating from the first line. This author knows how to grab your attention and keep it. I don't know how to explain how emotionally entrapped you are while reading this book. You feel like your a captive to her every word. She faultlessly brings you from the past to the present and to imagining the future. I won't give any spoilers whatsoever because this book is truly worth keeping every secret from you. You want to walk into this book blind and let your mind be taken to a different realm. Roman is a man who lives fast, hard and deep. His undying love for Elisabeth is heartbreakingly beautiful. There are some very emotional parts in this book that can be a trigger. Even with my history this book was so beautifully written from both of their views that you truly stand back and realize that in those circumstances your own pain and fears over lapse your partners. I can't wait to read the next book. I highlighted so many parts but don't want to ruin this amazing story for you. There are times where you will laugh so hard, cry for the pain they have endured(or pain you have endured) and parts where you smile because it's that kind of everlasting love that makes the world a better place. Ok, I need to stop before I give anything away. And, oh ya, that ending is a killer. *Reviewed by Sweet Spot Sisterhood*

Have you ever had a friend shove a book at you and in a demon possessed voice demand you read it? Hmm, just me then.

Okay so that's not exactly what happened but pretty close.

I have heard of the author before and even TBRed a book or two of hers. But my first taste of Aly Martinez was Retrieval, and boy was it bitter- (don't stop reading...it's a pause for artistic sense, to build anticipation) sweet. She had me crying in the prologue...on page 5. That's straight up evil.

Tissues are strongly suggested. Reading will result in lusting after certain hotties that shall steal your heart or peak your curiosity. I will admit to stalking the author for more information about Leo and his guys. (Apparently they are regulars and I'm slacking in my reading- this will be rectified at a later date.) Sorry about that, I get distracted lusting after fictional characters on the regular.

Now back to this book:

Retrieval is about a man who lost everything- EVERYTHING important to him. He lost it when he thought he didn't deserve it. But thankfully, he gets the most important part dangled in his face. Brought out to tempt or torment, he isn't sure but he realizes he's never letting go again.

That right there is Roman my newest dream man! How can you resist a man whose presence liquifies your insides. Trust me even the heroine, Elisabeth, can't. I give her an A for effort though- but not during this book, nope, that A was earned in their years apart.

Read this book! (This is being demanded in a demon like growl) Learn about a kind of love that makes your heart soar and your eyes water. Learn what it's like to be viscerally connected to your soul mate on your first date.

I'm not sure whether I hate this author or love her! Why, you ask? BECAUSE WHO COULD EVER REPLACE ROMAN!?!?! Why write a book about this amazing man, his amazing love, and then try and top it...oh wait that's normal. Ok I'll just have to cling to the hope that part two in the duet Transfer will restore my faith in real men. Somehow, I don't think so...
