Kathy Coopmans has always managed to entertain me. Each one of her books has me happily reading along in a fog or in this case...smoke.
Where There's Smoke is a slow burn but the spark is electric. Each with a history that is heartbreaking, Dean and Tatum are stagnant. They aren't living; they are just existing. With family/ friends that make life full, they are just getting by. Until they meet again...
The smoke may get in your eyes while reading this story. I blame the smoke for my glossy red rimmed eyes. (I'm pretty sure you can even smell it on me.)
I am late to the party because I haven't read The Right Direction yet. (Hangs head in shame and toes the floor) But I had no trouble jumping in at this point and it only made me more intrigued. I may have begged Kathy to give me the 411 on who is next and I think we will all be excited to read his story.
Of course, you need to read Where There's Smoke to know who I'm talking about...

Dean and Tatum two people who have known heartache and betrayal meet when they were at a very low point in their lives. They meet again years later and if your like me a believer in fate they meet again at the right time in their lives.
I enjoyed the story but I’ll admit it took me awhile to connect with the characters and I’m not sure why.
Dean is a successful drummer who for the past six years has tried to shield his daughter from the truth about her brothers death. This part seemed off to me , he’s in the public eye so how could he keep that from her.
Tatum’s ex has been a thorn in Dean’s side for years, a reporter who has tried to get the dirt on him . The sparks fly between the two main characters but with so much against them can they make things work.
