Today, I cried for the Devil...twice, three times. It was more than that. Today, I cried for the life he lost.
If you think it's easy to be the villain, you haven't seen it from El Diablo's eyes. Life isn't easy and death is way too complicated. Somewhere in between is El Diablo but hope you never make it on his radar. Good, bad, or in between- you don't want him noticing you.
Alejandro Martinez is not a man. He is a boy. Or he was until one fateful night. But when he becomes a man, he is no longer recognized as Alejandro. No, he is better known as El Diablo.
We all do things for our family. We all have different breaking points. El Diablo just has a different view on how far to go for those he loves.
A twisted tale of lies, loves, and losses that leave you hurting for the bad guy. Never one to be pitied, El Diablo is waiting to unravel it all for you. All you have to do is...one click!
Intense emotions are guaranteed for this heartbreaking tale. It is truly a messy tale but an incredible journey to the truth. Part of you will want to hate it...because well it's El Diablo. But as we all know, it's hard to hate the one you fall in love with. And you will- you will fall for Alejandro Martinez. And slowly and almost imperceptibly you will fall for El Diablo too. When you do remember, this is the most important part....
El es mio! (He is mine)
Enjoy this intriguing tale. It isn't light and fluffy. It isn't a traditional story. This is the real story of Alejandro "El Diablo" Martinez and like his life, it is messy and complicated.

So we know who he is... He's the devil, but we knew nothing about his past and this book lays it out for us. Told in 4 parts, it's his past, present, and hopefully future.
I love that M took us right back to the start where we get to see the dynamics of his family, what makes him tick, how he went from Alejandro to the man feared by everyone, El Diablo. It's a very raw, gritty story, and it's definitely not fluffy clouds and rainbows. It's death, destruction, and power. We see a boy/man struggling to accept his destiny while trying to retain the love of his sister and his 'one'. We see Briggs arrival in his life and it's poignant and beautiful but desperately sad at the same time.
Then we meet Lexi, sweet strong brave little Lexi. Now, even though I guessed who she was from the start, it didn't detract from the story. I still wanted to know her story and how she would be brought into 'the life'.
At times it's a brutal story. I mean come on, it's El Diablo, you wouldn't expect anything else but it's so beautiful we see a side of him you'd never expect. He's vulnerable, tender, and so loving when he loves and he loves hard. The sacrifices he makes throughout his life only made me love him more. This is hands down my favorite book by M ever. Read it and you won't be disappointed. You may just fall in love with The Devil like me.

I'm truly speechless at the moment. Wow, this book was truly heartbreaking and amazing all at once. This is a standalone, but do yourself a favor and read the good ol' boys series first. You get the whole mystery behind Martinez and it just makes this book a thousand times better in my opinion. I will give no spoilers at all because this book is packed with oh my god and what the bleep moments. I truly had to force myself to keep reading at some parts because I was heart broken or pissed off. I mean all I can say is this book was everything I wanted it to be and so much more. Boy does Robinson throw you some major curve balls. Like, moments where you question everything you think you know. This is definitely a story where you fall for the bad boy, no wait that's not right, you fall for the devil and all his glory. Lexi is an amazing woman and I fell in love with her character right away. She was so strong and truly loves with all her being. She doesn't let anything get in the way of what she wants. This was a beautiful way to answer the cliffhanger from Crave Me. And I loved that we truly didn't know anything until like 90% of the book. Don't be fooled that first 90% is everything you want and you won't be disappointed. I can't get over this book. My mind is still reeling and spinning. So many questions were answered and now you're just left trying to digest it all. Can't wait to see what M Robinson has up her sleeve next! *Reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood*

El Diablo is the first M. Robinson book I have read. I have to admit that I did not immediately fall in love with this book. Although, the further I read the better it got. I understand the need for laying the groundwork for the story, but it took nearly half the book.
El Diablo is the story of Alejandro Martinez, a crime boss, a.k.a. the devil, and Lexi, a beautiful prima ballerina. Martinez did not choose this life of crime, he was born into it. Lexi had a hard life growing up, ballet was her escape. Their paths cross several times over the years. Eventually, Martinez comes to her rescue.
I would love to say that this is where they fell in love and lived happily ever after, but that's not the case. Martinez hurts Lexi so bad that she takes a job with a ballet company in England. Ten years go by with no contact between the two of them. Then one fateful day, Martinez came to Lexi's rescue again after she was in a bad wreck. Lexi's leg was shattered and so was her career. Martinez brought her back to his home so that she could recover. Again they grew close, but it didn't last. El Diablo spewed so much venom and hurt. Lexi left only to return a month later when news spread that Martinez was settling down and getting married. Lexi was livid. She confronted Martinez, but it backfired when he shared how he knew her before they met and shared secrets of her past.
On a side note, I didn't care for how the book ended. It was an awkward way to end the book. It seemed like an afterthought as a way to introduce an interconnected standalone.
