"Think Mean Girls the movie- yeah the attitude. Then I want you to add the reality of how high school can be evil, and lump in the "losers, loners, and not in a click" kids of a real high school experience. Now whether you were on top of the social pyramid or the bottom...or not even on that list, I hope this book makes its way into your heart too.

Innocence only exists until it's lost. Lost is probably not the right term. Innocence only exists until it is willfully pushed away.

Ryen made a choice. She willfully decided the way she wanted to go in life. She can't take it back and can't say she didn't mean it.

Annie was the same. So many people make decisions that forever alter their futures. I'm not trying to be preachy, I just want to hug the characters and let them know it will get better.

I want every high schooler to read the meaning behind these words. I want them to feel this story, but I also think it's important to remind adults. This world is changing. Bullying is too. Ever evolving with technology and ingenuity on behalf of the bullies, it's got to be stopped. 

Sorry, I will step off my soap box now. Punk 57 is a hauntingly familiar tale. I think it will rattle us all in its own way. I was no cheerleader and I certainly didn't go to the lengths for control that Ryen did. But even those that have been bullied can see the why. 

This is a uniquely woven love story. It's beautiful and edgy. The music, the lyrics, and the relationship will all speak to you on different levels. I'm so glad I got a chance to read this book. I absolutely loved it as a whole. You can pick apart behavior, attitude, and conversations. There will always be someone around to tear anyone down but this book was truly a wonderful read."
